Timber Rivets are high strength fasteners used in conjuction with steel side plates to achieve high-capacity and cost-effective connections in glulam and solid timber.

Advantages of Timber Rivets:

  • High load-transfer for a given connector area
  • Tight-fit connector, resulting in stiff connections
  • No reduction of timber cross-section for holes
  • No pre-drilling required
  • Easy to install
  • Easily inspected in field

Design provisions for Timber Rivets are provided in CAN/CSA O86.1 Engineering Design in Wood (Clause 10.7).

Rivets are sold in 50 lb (22.6 kg) boxes, and are available in 3 lengths: 40mm (1 1/2″), 65mm (2 1/2″), and 90mm (3 1/2″).
